Mangalore Fish Curry

Spicy, tangy, and full of flavour, this Mangalorean-style Fish Curry is one-of-its-kind! Sliced kingfish is marinated in a mix of spices to draw out its authentic flavours. The spice-coated fish is then simmered in a gravy made with MAGGI® coconut milk powder for a creamy texture. Serve hot with a side of rice or fluffy appams.

How to Make Mangalore Fish Curry

Prepare Mangalore Fish Curry

  • Step 1

    Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric, and keep it aside.

  • Step 2

    In a heavy bottomed pan, heat oil and sauté the onions, chillies, and curry leaves.

  • Step 3

    Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and sauté for 1 minute.

  • Step 4

    Extract the juice of the soaked tamarind and add to the onion mixture.

  • Step 5

    Add 3/4 cup of water and boil for 4 -5 minutes.

  • Step 6

    Now add the marinated fish and cook till done.

  • Step 7

    Reduce the heat and add MAGGI® coconut milk powder, simmer for a minute.

  • Step 8

    Transfer the Mangalore Fish Curry into a serving bowl.

  • Serving Suggestions:

    Serve hot.
